Taiwan is actually a part of the Republic of China

        Did you know that Taiwan actually belongs to the Republic of China? This is not to be confused with the People’s Republic of China (or simply, China). Taiwan neighbors many countries, including the People’s Republic of China to the west, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south. Another interesting fact is that Taiwan is the most populous state with the largest economy outside of the United Nations! Taiwan is actually situated on an island, which is why it’s called an island state. The island’s name used to be Formosa! As of 2017, Taiwan has a population of an astonishing 23,550,077 residents! Taiwan is the home to high-tech industries, as it represents one of the most important countries in the economy of the entire world!

A highly advanced transportation system

        If you’ve spent your entire life in the United States, you might be used to very frequent traffic jams and an overall slow transportation system. Well, we have some good news for you then! Did you know that Taiwan has one of the most highly advanced systems of transportation in the entire world? It includes an extensive network of highways, which are classified into five different levels: National
highways, provincial highways, country routes, township routes, and special
routes.

    (incl. the Airport MRT)
  • Kaohsiung MRT
  • Taichung Metro,
    which is under construction

 

Did you know that Taiwan has 7 major national airlines? That’s more than any other country in the world! Some of its biggest airlines are China Airlines and EVA Air. Major airports in Taiwan are:

  • Kaohsiung

  • Taipei Songshan
    Airport
  • Taichung Airport

 

Taiwan is also an important sea trade island state. It has four very significant international seaports, which are:
